When I had no choice but to file for divorce, I was terrified. My situation was extremely complex and unusual and I feared that no one would believe everything we had been through-let alone care enough to fight for my children’s safety as well as my own. I met with several different attorneys. Telling each one, all the details of my now ex-husbands lengthy criminal history, his alcohol, drug and gambling addictions and his emotionally, verbally and physically abusive personality. During these consultations, I felt like I wasn’t being believed or taken seriously. I felt as if I was being viewed as a bitter woman who just wanted to get back at my husband for our failed marriage. This was completely untrue. I felt that the attorneys didn’t want to be bothered with all the extra work that my complicated case would require, yet they all quoted me a retainer fee and rushed me out the door. I felt devastated and hopeless that my husband would lie and cheat and fool the courts again and that my children and I would never be free from his dysfunction.

Then I met Mike. I walked into his office, with all of my worries, my notes, police reports etc. I was scared, nervous, stressed and ready to be disappointed again. I began to tell him everything and he took notes and asked me questions. I think I was there for about 2 hours. He seemed interested in everything I had to say and I felt comfortable. I went home and talked to my parents and my Mom came the next day to meet him. We decided to retain him. Then the very best thing happened. He gave me his cell phone number and said that I could call him anytime. To be honest, I only half way believed that. I figured he was just trying to look like he really cared since we had just retained him. And then our attorney/client journey began. When I said my case was complicated, I was NOT exaggerating.

There were so many complicated and stressful things to get through (and I think I was stressed and worried enough for 100 people) and Mike was always honest with me on what to expect-the good possibility and the bad possibility-so I would never be taken by surprise. He also honored his promise to be available 24 hours a day. Even when I needed something explained for the 10th time, he never seemed irritated or bothered by my calls. Thoughts of new questions and bad things usually come up after 5pm and on the weekends-but my stress was relieved once I was able to talk to Mike. He always took my calls. He always maintained a strong line of communication with me. He always told me all of my options up front so that I could make my own choices, with his legal experience as guidance. He never pressured me into anything. He just guided me to make the best decisions possible

A very, long story short.

I am now divorced with the best possible outcome I could have expected-sole legal and physical custody of my beautiful boys and a brand new start to our new, safe and finally peace filled lives. Not to mention that I am a completely different person than I was the day I first met Mike. I am a victorious, happy single mom with two fantastic boys and just plain old, normal everyday stress. I believe that Mike genuinely cared about the outcome of my divorce as well as my kids and I. The fact that I was able to trust Mike with our future speaks volumes of his character as an attorney. Getting through this nightmare, makes me wish I would have filed for divorce years ago. I would highly recommend him to anyone facing the possibility of divorce.
